Birthday Wish for friend

I keep thinking about that night we got lost looking for the little place with the bad sign and the great fries, and how you laughed like we had all the time in the world. That’s still you, even now, the same person who can turn a wrong turn into a story I end up telling later. I’m glad I get to know you. There’s something about the way you make a room feel less sharp around the edges, and I’ve been carrying that with me more than I say out loud. It feels a little strange, watching the years stack up and still seeing the same spark in you from back then, but in a good way. Quietly, I’m grateful for you.
