I keep thinking about the way you handled all the ordinary hard parts without making a show of it, how you noticed what I needed before I knew how to ask, how you kept the house, and me, together in ways I didn’t understand until I got older.

I love you for that. For the tired hands, the patience, the way your voice could calm a whole bad day without trying too hard.
